Get test tokens (tCHR)
This guide will walk you through obtaining test tokens (tCHR) on the Chromia testnet. These tokens are essential for testing deployments and experimenting with Chromia's features without using real tokens.
Step 1: Access the Chromia testnet faucet
To obtain tCHR, visit the Chromia Testnet Faucet.
Step 2: Connect your wallet
- On the faucet page, click Connect Wallet.
- Choose your wallet provider (e.g., MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet).
- Follow the prompts to authorize the connection.
Step 3: Request tCHR tokens
- Once your wallet is connected, click Request Tokens on the faucet page.
- Complete the CAPTCHA if prompted.
- If you don’t have a Chromia account yet, you’ll see an option to create one. Click Create Account and follow the instructions to set up your Chromia account.
- If you just created an account, click Request Tokens again.
- You will then be prompted to sign a message in MetaMask to authorize the token request. This is a cryptographic signature, verifying that you’re the account owner without any gas fees, as it only performs a mathematical calculation on your device.
Once the tokens are successfully requested, they should appear in your wallet on the testnet.
Step 4: View tokens in the Vault
You can view your tCHR tokens and account balance by clicking View my account in Vault. Alternatively, visit the Economy Chain in the Vault directly, where your account is located.
Usage notes
- Purpose: tCHR tokens are for testing on the Chromia testnet and have no real-world value.
- Resetting balance: If you need additional tokens, you can revisit the faucet periodically to request more.
By following these steps, you’ll have tCHR available for any testnet actions, including deploying a dapp or experimenting with token transfers.
